HUNTINGTON, IN—The 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-America® women’s basketball teams have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom and among the list of honorees was Huntington University senior Kelsey Green.
The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Green was one of six players named to the Third Team.
Green, a mathematics education major from Van Buren, Ind., (Eastbrook High School), carries a 3.77 GPA. An NAIA All-America Honorable Mention selection last year, Green is averaging 11.6 points and a team-best 9.6 rebounds per outing in her final campaign as a Forester.
In addition to leading the Mid-Central College Conference in defensive rebounds/game (6.75) and total rebounds/game (9.64), Green is currently ranked 11th and 12th respectively in these two categories in NAIA Division II. This two-time MCC First Team All-Conference pick also leads the league in double doubles with 10.
To date, Green has accumulated 1,028 points and 823 rebounds.
