Huntington, Ind. - Downers Grove Community High School senior, Amelia Echemann, has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Huntington University next fall. In her final season, the 6’ forward captain averaged 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game for the Trojans.
Echemann’s accomplishments on the court earned her numerous accolades. As a senior, she was selected for the Voyager Media Prep Shootout and was named to the All-Area Team Honorable Mention Suburban Life Dupage County. She also advanced five rounds in the three-point Illinois State Class 4A shoot-out.
Echemann has also excelled in the classroom as a four-year honor roll student. She was also named to the All-Area Academic Team.
Huntington University basketball coach, Lori Culler, is looking forward to Echemann’s contributions to the team. “We are really excited that Amelia is joining our program. She gives us a little more size in the post and also has a decent mid-range jumper. Couple those things with a strong work ethic and being very coachable, and you have a good combination of skills to work with. We think her best basketball is ahead of her, but aside from what she will contribute on the court, Amelia is an outstanding individual that will also make an impact on our campus."
