Huntington University women's basketball coach, Lori Culler, announced the addition of North Miami High School standout, Alicia Burrus, to the Foresters' 2009-2010 roster.
On the hardwood, Burrus compiled numerous accomplish-ments during her four years in the Warriors' basketball program. The 5’6 shooting guard was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection in the Three Rivers Conference. As a junior, she helped lead North Miami to its first sectional title by averaging a team-high 15.1 points per game. During her final campaign, she raised her game another level scoring 19.0 points each contest and as a result was selected as the Co-Miami County Player of the Year. She finished her career as a Warrior with 1086 points and 269 assists.
Huntington University basketball coach, Lori Culler, is looking forward to Burrus’ contributions to the team. "Over the past few seasons, our roster has been pretty thin when it came to outside shooters,' said Coach Culler. "Alicia will play a part in helping fill that void. She has good range and the ability to put the ball on the floor. She is also a hard worker and very coachable. That combination makes her a valuable addition to our program. But aside from what she will contribute on the court, Alicia is an outstanding individual that will also make an impact on our campus."
Burrus, the daughter of John and Tammy Burrus, plans to major in education.
