HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University/uploadedImages/News/News_Release_Images/Athletics/Eisenhut-Gina(1).JPG women’s basketball team has added a local product to its roster for next season with the signing of Bluffton High School standout Gina Eisenhut.

Despite a season-ending injury that brought a quick close to her prep career just five games into her senior season, Eisenhut has earned the reputation as one of the area’s top players.

As a junior, the 5-10 forward averaged 17.6 points and 12.1 rebounds and for her efforts was named Allen County Athletic Conference First Team.

The awards continued to pile up her junior year as she was selected to the 2012 Indiana Elite North/South All-Star game as well as the Post Your T East/West All-Star game.

Eisenhut also earned the 2012 Indiana Basketball Magazine Mental Attitude and Courage Award and was voted her team’s MVP last season.

The two-time All-Conference player was averaging just under 17 points and 11 boards this year before being sidelined by injury.

Huntington University head coach Lori Culler is looking forward to Eisenhut’s career as a Forester.

“We are very excited that Gina has chosen to continue her basketball career at HU,” noted Coach Culler. “Despite having her senior season cut short with an unfortunate injury, Gina has a tremendous amount of potential and a work ethic that will make her a valuable player at this level.

“She has the ability to score in a variety of ways and is an aggressive rebounder. Add her intelligence and eagerness to learn to the mix and you have all the ingredients for a successful transition to the collegiate game. I expect Gina to have an outstanding career as a Forester.”
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
