Spring Arbor, Mich. - In a battle that took five sets to determine the outcome, it was the Forester volleyball team that came up short against the Cougars of Spring Arbor University, 25-18, 24-26, 25-9, 25-23, 15-4, Wednesday night.
It was a bit of a rollercoaster for HU as they dropped the first set, having dug themselves in a 6-1 hole they couldn’t recover from but showed a great will to compete by bouncing back with some quick kills in the second set to set the tone and eventually snag a win. It proved to be the pattern for the rest of the night with the Cougars getting the better end of the deal by winning two of the next three sets to claim the MCC win.
Rebekah Brown took control at the net with 13 kills and four blocks. Heather Medich and Brittany Rooze finished with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Rooze also added four blocks and a team-high ten digs. Jensen Carnahan paced the Foresters offensively with 40 assists.
The Foresters (3-12, 0-9) are back in action on Saturday when they host Purdue North Central and Davenport.
