Smelser earns Athlete of Week honors

Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 2-8, 2009. Women’s volleyball senior Brittney Smelser earned the honor for her outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Brittney Smelser, a senior business economics and finance major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), had an outstanding performance against powerhouse Taylor University last week. She recorded 19 kills, 12 digs and four aces and against the 17th–ranked Trojans. She is currently third in the MCC conference in kills per set, aces per set and digs per set.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eleven years, Huntington has produced 64 NAIA All-America honors and 158 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
