Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 19-25. Women’s volleyball senior Alyssa Schroeder and men’s soccer senior Brad Kunze earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Alyssa Schroeder, a senior business management major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), had a great week of volleyball by helping her team earn their first conference win over Grace. She also was named to the Olivet Nazarene University Homestead Classic over the weekend for her outstanding play. Schroeder dished out a total of 164 assists in the five matches for an average of 32.8 per game. She also chipped in five aces and nine blocks for the week. The Foresters return to action on Wednesday when they host Indiana Wesleyan.
Brad Kunze, a senior recreation management major from Kettering, Ohio (Dayton Christian High School), had two solid performances this week controlling the Forester’s offensive tempo. Against Spring Arbor he scored HU’s first goal of the game. On Saturday against Saint Francis he needed less than four minutes to set George Halim up for a score. The Foresters travel to Marian on Tuesday. A win against the Knights would likely secure HU a spot in the MCC tourney slated to begin next weekend.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eleven years, Huntington has produced 64 NAIA All-America honors and 158 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
