HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Friday that 408 volleyball student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes and four Foresters were included in the list of honorees.
For the second time in her collegiate career, Jessica Sullivan has been honored as a Scholar Athlete. The Ada, Michigan native (Saranac H.S.) is a senior elementary education major.
Joining her are juniors Gina Boucouras, Chelsey Piper and Melissa Grossman. Boucouras (Powell, Ohio, Worthington H.S.) is majoring in social work. Hailing from Scotts, Michigan (Climax-Scotts H.S.), Piper is studying to become a language arts elementary and middle school teacher and Grossman is a local product (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North H.S.) majoring in history.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
