The Foresters kept themselves in the running to host a first round conference game with a 30-17, 17-30, 30-21, 31-29 win over Marian College. HU came out strong to open the match and had its offense running smoothly. Tiffany Malfait and Kayley Cervenka were especially effective in their middle attack.
As has been typical of the Foresters' play this season, they suffered a letdown in game two, but regrouped and finished the match with wins in the next two games. "We needed this win," said Coach Schroeder. "We were flat and didn't play our game in game two. We never got back to our game one mode of play, but we played well enough to win."
Amy Wilson and Renee Biberstine each had 14 kills to lead the team. Tiffany Malfait added nine kills and a team-high five blocks. Kellie Hanson had 41 assists, and Stephanie Stearns had 14 digs and two aces. With their fifth consecutive win, the Foresters improve to 14-8 on the season and 3-3 in the MCC.
