HUNTINGTON, Ind.— HU Alum Lauren (Davenport) Johnson continues to make a name for herself as a professional runner. This past weekend, Johnson placed fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:19.30 at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Andrews, Ind. native runs an average of 70 miles per week and was happy with this weekend’s results. “I feel like I’ve had a good year of training but up until Sunday, I hadn’t really seen the type of results I was hoping for. I was able to stick to my race strategy and it was nice to finally see my hard work pay off.”

There’s no rest for the weary as Johnson has already shifted her attention to the upcoming outdoor season where she has yet to decide if she will continue to focus on the 1500 or try her hand at the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Johnson graduated from Huntington University in 2009 as one of the Foresters’ most decorated athletes. She is among HU’s elite having earned NAIA All-America honors in three different sports.
