Huntington's Joseph Njeri named Athlete of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-28. Men’s track and field sophomore Joseph Njeri earned the honor for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competition.

Joseph Njeri, a sociology major from Nairobi, Kenya, had a solid individual performance at the University of Findlay Invitational over the weekend. Competing against a strong field that included NCAA Division I competitors, Njeri finished seventh of 55 runners in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:28.50. His time also met provisional NAIA qualification standards for competing in the Indoor National Championships in March. The Forester harriers will next compete in the Taylor University Invitational on Feb. 3 at 10 a.m.
