ADA, Ohio - In their second indoor meet of the season, the HU women finished fifth and the men took seventh at the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
The women turned in several impressive performances with Gretchen Spahr, Krista Wood and Shana Christian topping the list, each finishing second in their respective race.
Spahr clocked a 10:41.82 in the 3000 meter run, shattering her PR and Huntington record by nearly five seconds. Wood finished in 3:20.13 in the 1000 meter run good for the 10th spot in the Forester record books while Christian ran a 1:02.65 in the 400 meter dash to claim the fourth fastest time in HU history.
Other point getters for the Foresters included Brianna Gregory in the 60 meter dash (7th, 8.55), Amanda Henningfield in the 500 meter run (3rd, 1:31.48),Natalie Spahr in the 1000 meter run (10th, 3:36.92), Hannah Moore in the 5000 meter run (4th, 19:54.32), Miranda Boyts in the 5000 meter run (9th, 21:09.76) and Lindsay Schroeder in pole vault (5th, 9-00.25).
Ohio Northern University claimed the women’s team title with 165 points followed by Otterbein (133), John Carroll (103.5), Rose-Hulman (99.5), HU (60.5), Capital (51), Bluffton (50.5) and Defiance (34).
For the men, Josh Graham turned in HU’s top performance by finishing third in the 1000 meter run in 2:46.48. Additionally, several athletes turned in personal bests. After running a PR of 7.19 in the 60 meter dash prelims, Daniel DeBoni finished sixth in the finals in 7.21. Scott Skiles topped his best time in the 400 meter dash by running a 53.49 and Lukas Knox’s toss of 44-07.50 in the weight throw was two feet farther than his previous best.
Point getters for the HU men included Jacob Reents (7th, 1:17.96) and Brandon Hunt (8th, 1:18.07) in the 500 meter run, Seth Murphy in the 1000 meter run (6th, 2:52.61), Lance Wood in the 3000 meter run (9th, 9:14.99), Nathan Rupp in the 5000 meter run (7th, 16:50.37), Levy Francois in the 60 meter hurdles (5th, 8.93) and Jacob Stone in pole vault (8th, 12-05.50).
Ohio Northern topped the men with 148.5 followed by John Carroll (107.5), Rose-Hulman (101.5), Otterbein (100), Capital (79), Defiance (57), HU (36.5), Mariette (32) and Bluffton (28).
