UPLAND, Ind. - The Huntington University track and field squads wrapped up its regular season on Saturday, May 5, at the Taylor University Invitational. It was a laid back competition as the Foresters competed against the Trojans and several other partial squads.
On the men’s side, Lance Wood posted the top finish in the 1,500 meter run in 4:14.14. Brian Menzie ran a 16:32.94 in the 5,000 meter run to bring home a first place finish while Nathan Rupp won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:34.46.
For the women’s Kelsey Green, Racquel Service and Heather Johnson were all double winners. They did the most damage in field events where Green won the discus and hammer with tosses of 39.28 meters and 36.24 meters respectively.
Johnson claimed the pole vault with a leap of 2.60 meters and also grabbed first in javelin with a winning throw of 29.44 meters.
Service enjoyed a win in long jump with the sixth best leap all-time on the HU Top Ten list of 5.06 meters to go along with a top finish in the 100 meter dash (13.26).
The other HU victory was posted by Holly Lutton in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:19.71.
