Huntington, Ind. - The Forester track and field teams braved the elements on Saturday to compete in the Manchester College Spartan Classic where the men finished sixth while the women finished seventh.
For the women, Cendall Ogle brought home HU’s only first place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:05.05. Molly Shirey ran to a third place finish in the 10,000 with her time of 42:37.33. Kelsey Green scored points in two events by taking fifth in discus with her toss of 117-03.50 and eight in the hammer with a throw of 112-03.50 as did Rachel Bayon who finished sixth in the 100 (14.08) and eighth in the 200 (29.00). Other top eight finishers include Diamond Setterberg in the 1500 (8th, 5:25.50) and Holly Lutton in the 100 meter hurdles (6th, 17.43).
Sean LaFontaine paced the men with a first place showing in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.38. Alec Rosario finished second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:51.19 while Nathan Rupp crossed the line third in the 10,000 with his time of 35:02.00. Other top eight finishers for the Foresters included Joseph Herber in the 1500 (4th, 4:07.97) and 800 (8th, 2:05.46), Josh McIntyre in the 5000 (4th, 16:05.37), Jacob Stone in the pole vault (5th, 12-06.00), Volodymy Budnichenko in the 400 meter hurdles (7th, 1:03.73), Todd Fiedler in long jump (6th, 18-04.00), Logan Knox in shot put (5th, 44-09.50) and Caleb Kennedy in javelin (5th, 121-00.75).
The Foresters return to Manchester College for the Spartan Quad on Thursday.
