HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Five Huntington University track and field athletes will be among over 1,200 athletes from 30 states competing in the 47th NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships being held March 1-3 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Making his third appearance to the national indoor event is senior Joseph Herber. The Fremont, Ind., native finished 17th in the 3,000 meter run as a freshman and 27th in the 5,000 meter run last year. He qualified to compete in both events this year and has opted to focus on the 5,000. As the 21st seed, Herber is slated to run in the semifinals at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday with the finals on Saturday at 3:10 p.m.
New to the scene will be sophomore Cendall Ogle (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw HS), freshman Erin Rockey (Shipshewana, Ind., Westview HS), freshman Racquel Service (Lauderhill, Fla., Boyd H. Anderson HS) and freshman Gretchen Spahr (Huntington, Ind., Huntington North HS). These four will team up to run the 4,000 meter distance medley relay as the 32nd seed. They are scheduled to run in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday with the finals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
