A young HU softball roster that includes seven freshmen and just four returning letter winners from a year ago headed to the University of West Florida for their spring break trip. The youthful squad went 2-8 on the week, but gained a lot of experience that should help them the rest of the season.
The Foresters got in the win column with a sweep of the doubleheader against University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. In game one, freshman Ashley Scally (1-2) pitched a three-hit shutout and scored HU's only run in the 1-0 victory. In the nightcap, the Foresters plated three in the bottom of the second to take the lead and then added a run in the third and fourth. The Titans got one back in the fifth and another in the seventh before Scally, who came on in relief of Lauren Ward in the fifth, put an end to the rally. Ward (1-3) recorded her first win of the season and helped herself at the plate with two hits and two RBI in the game.
For the week, sophomore Kendra Stahl led the Foresters at the plate going 9-26 for a .346 batting average. She also scored four runs and had a team-high five RBI.
