The Foresters (11-22) were able to push their current winning streak to five with a 2-1 win over Siena Heights University in game one of the doubleheader, but saw it end with a 4-2 loss in game two.
In the first game, the Foresters were able to muster just enough run support to give Lauren Ward (7-6) a well-deserved victory. Ward went the distance for HU, scattering five hits and striking out six over the seven innings and limiting the Saints to just one unearned run in the fourth.
The Foresters scored first on a two-out RBI double by Kendra Stahl in the third and then picked up the eventual game-winner in the fourth when Keri Badenhop singled to left to drive in April Snider. Ward then held Siena Heights scoreless over the final three innings to seal the win. Badenhop and Snider each had two hits to lead HU at the plate.
Siena Heights took the early lead in game two with a run in the first. The Foresters evened it up in the fourth on a RBI single by Stahl. The Saints reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth, but again Stahl came up with a clutch two-out single to knot it at 2-2 in the bottom of sixth. In the top of the seventh, Siena Heights plated two more, but this time HU had no answer.
Rebekah Gumbiner, who came on in relief of Ashley Scally in the seventh, took the loss. She allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two. Stahl led the Forester offense with two hits and two RBI.
