HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Softball team along with Head Coach Doug Gower has added a Summerfield High School standout to its 2012-13 roster with the signing of Emily Puterbaugh.
The Petersburg, Michigan native pitched the Bulldogs to Division 4 state championships each of the last two years. As a junior the right-handed hurler went 29-6 with 372 strikeouts and a 1.16 earned run average. She had equally impressive stats as a sophomore which included 26 pitching wins against five losses, an ERA of .0.74 and 346 strikeouts.
With her final campaign just under way, she shows signs of saving her best for last. In her first two outings she has registered two wins and surrendered only one run while striking out 22.
"Emily is a quiet leader," commented Coach Gower. "She is a hard-working pitcher with great control. She has led her team to two state championships in Michigan and I know she has the work ethic to be successful at the NAIA level. She is a terrific gal who will be a great fit at our University."
Emily is the daughter of David and Sarah of Petersburg, Michigan.
