HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University softball program has inked its first recruit fo

r the 2013-2014 season with the signing of Frankton High School standout Natalie McGuire.
A versatile infielder for the Eagles, McGuire was named the Service Club Player of the Year and is a Second Team All-Conference and All-County pick. During her eight years of travel experience with several teams including Red Chix, Shockwaves, Dreams and Stealth, the Elwood native has accumulated national finishes of third, fourth and fifth.
As a highly touted three-sport athlete at Frankton, McGuire has received the Service Club All-Around Female Athlete of the Year in addition to be named an IHSAA Role Model Athlete.
In addition to her commitment to athletics, McGuire has also found time to give back to her school and community. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also involved in the Spanish Club, Students of Service and serves as vice-president of the Science Club.
“We’re excited Natalie has chosen to continue her softball career at HU,” said head coach Doug Gower. “She is a well-rounded individual.
“Whether in academics or athletics, she is very competitive. She will be a great fit at HU.”
Natalie is the daughter of Todd and Nancy McGuire of Elwood, Indiana.
