HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University sophomore Marcie McDougle was named the Mid-Central College Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 19, 2012, for her outstanding effort at the Tucson Invitational Games last week.
The Paulding, Ohio native (Wayne Trace HS) appeared in seven games and was credited with two wins and one save. McDougle pitched a gem to pick up her first win of the season on Wednesday against Missouri Valley College. She pitched a complete-game shutout and gave up only five hits and one walk while striking out seven in the Foresters’ 3-0 victory.
On Thursday McDougle worked the last 1.2 innings of HU’s 4-2 win over Mount Marty College and held the Lancers hitless to pick up the save.
The highlight of the week came later that day when the Foresters avenged a loss earlier in the week and broke 7th-ranked Lubbock Christian University’s 24-game win streak with a 3-1 decision over the national powerhouse. McDougle had a spectacular outing on the mound for the win. In 4.1 innings of work she gave one run on six hits and two walks.
The Foresters finished the week 7-3. They are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Olivet College for a doubleheader slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
