Long garners MCC Pitcher of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University Ace, Molly Long, was named the softball Mid-Central Conference (MCC) Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1, 2012. She is the second Forester pitcher to receive this award in as many weeks.

Long, a senior business management from Logansport, Indiana (Logansport HS), registered two wins last week to extend the Foresters’ win streak to ten. Against Olivet College on Thursday, she was one out away from a no-hitter before surrendering a two-out single in the top of the seventh to spoil her near perfect game.

For the week she had a 1.00 ERA allowing three runs on 8 hits and three walks while tallying 17 Ks in 14 innings of work. Long currently sits atop the conference for most saves with two and has posted 6 wins against one loss for the season.

The Foresters (12-4) open up conference play on Thursday when they host Taylor University for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
