Wrapping up regular season play with a road trip to Chicago, the Forester softball team (19-19) dropped two to Robert Morris University, 3-2 and 6-5.

Katie Bowers started things off for the Foresters as she sent one long in her first at-bat to give HU the early 1-0 lead. The next four innings were quiet as neither team could generate much offense but Brita Kuiper's RBI-single in the sixth gave Huntington the 2-0 cushion. It looked like the Foresters were on their way to pick up their 20th win of the season but the Eagles had other plans in their final at-bats. After back-to-back singles, Robert Morris pinch hitter Jessica Walsh laid down a sacrifice bunt and after an errant throw and fielding error, not only did both base runners cross the plate but Walsh was able to slide into home for the game-winning run.

Molly Long picked up the loss for HU giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out ten. Bowers and Kuiper each finished with two hits and an RBI to lead HU at the plate.

The second game proved just as disappointing for the Foresters as they grabbed a 2-0 lead but gave up four runs in the bottom of the second to find themselves down 4-2. The Eagles added two more runs in the fourth before Bowers notched another four-bagger that plated three runs to pull the Foresters within one but it wouldn't be enough as the Eagles held on for their second win of the day.

It was Stacie Rawnsley who took the nightcap loss for HU. In four innings of work she gave up six runs, four earned, on seven hits and two walks. Pacing the Foresters at the plate was Werling who went 3-for-4 with a homerun while Bowers finished with two hits and a game-high three RBI.

The Foresters are back in action on Tuesday for the MCC conference tournament. Huntington finished fifth in the MCC and will take on the #4-seeded Cougars of Spring Arbor at noon at Newton Park in Lakeville, Ind.
