After mounting a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Indiana Institute of Technology, the Forester softball
team (4-6) dropped their second game to the Warriors 8-4.
In the opening game, the Foresters grabbed the early 1-0 lead when Aubrey Garner, who reached base after being hit by a pitch, scored on Kate Dwyer's double in the bottom of the first. The Warriors pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the second to gain the one-run advantage. With neither team able to generate much offensive firepower over the next several innings, Katie Bowers finally changed all that in the bottom of the sixth when she sent one over the left field fence for a two-run homerun that catapulted the Foresters past the Warriors for the 3-2 victory.
Molly Long earned the win for the Foresters, allowing two runs on four hits. Bowers led HU at the plate with her two-run homerun while four other Foresters recorded hits in the game.
In game two, the Warriors exploded for six runs in their first at-bat and added another two in the fourth to take the commanding 8-0 lead. The Foresters got one back in their half of the inning, added two more in the fifth and another in the sixth to pull within four but it wouldn't be enough as Tech's early lead proved too much to overcome.
Stacie Rawnsley took the loss for the Foresters giving up eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits. Bowers continued to have the hot hand at the plate, leading HU with two hits, both doubles, and an RBI.
