The Foresters (11-14, 4-6) dropped two close games 1-0 and 3-1 to Spring Arbor University. They played well enough to win, but just couldn't come up with the big hit when they needed it.
The opener was scoreless through six innings when Spring Arbor's Danielle Beckett sent one over the fence with one out in the top of the seventh. HU couldn't answer in their final at-bat and stranded six base runners throughout the game.
Ashley Scally took the disappointing loss for the Foresters. She gave up one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out four in seven innings. Brittney Bateman was the only Forester with two hits in the game.
In game two, the Cougars plated one in the third and added two more in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. HU scored its first run of the day in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough. Again, the Foresters couldn't get the timely hit as they left seven on base in the game. Kendra Stahl had two hits in the game including a triple and she drove in HU's only run of the day.
Lauren Ward allowed three runs on 10 hits and she struck out seven in the loss.
