Playing in front of a homecoming crowd, the HU
men’s soccer team was hoping for a different ending as they dropped a 3-0 decision to Taylor University.
The Trojans went to work right away, scoring three times in the first twenty minutes of play to take a commanding lead the Foresters couldn’t recover from. After being outshot 7-1 in the first 45 minutes of play, Huntington had a 10-1 shot advantage in the second half but couldn’t convert any of their scoring opportunities into points on the board as Taylor cruised to the win.
The Foresters outshot Taylor 11-8 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. HU keepers Drew Mattingly and Chris Fox recorded two and one saves respectively.
HU is currently 2-9-2 (0-3-1 in MCC action). They host Bethel College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
