Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15. Women’s tennis sophomore Stephanie Strong and men’s cross country sophomore Dan Lindbloom earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Stephanie Strong, an elementary education major from Goshen, Ind. (Fairfield High School), helped lead Huntington to a second place finish in the Mid-Central Conference tournament with her play. She defeated Loriann Laugle (Marian) 6-1, 6-1 and Julie Wegener (Grace) 6-2, 6-2, before falling to Sarah Bauss (IWU) 6-4, 6-1 in the finals. Her second place finish in the No. 1 singles flight coupled with her 6-2 record in conference play earned her All-Conference honors for the second straight year. The Foresters wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule with an 11-3 record.
Dan Lindbloom, an exercise science major from Evergreen Park, Ill. (Chicago Christian High School), turned in an outstanding individual performance at the Manchester College Invitational. He was a personal best 8K race finishing ninth with a time of 26:13. Huntington will next compete for the Mid-Central Conference Championship at Indiana Wesleyan University on Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.
