Huntington College announced today that Steve DeCou will join the HC staff as assistant athletic trainer, varsity men's soccer coach, and intramural director. DeCou brings a variety of skills and experiences to the position. As an athletic trainer, he has worked in several different settings including high schools and colleges, and provided coverage for various elite athletic competitions such as the NCAA D-II national football championship and a U.S. National Softball team tournament. He has a master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy and is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer Association.
DeCou also brings a broad range of soccer experiences to the position. He was a four-year starter at Tennessee Temple University where he was selected to the NAIA All-South team his senior season. He also played two years of semi-professional soccer with the U.S.I.S.L. Chattanooga Express. DeCou also has coached soccer at various levels including serving as assistant varsity coach at Daphne High School and assistant varsity coach at Tennessee Temple University. Presently he is the head coach of an under-13 and under-14 boy's club team.
