Huntington, Ind. - Huntington University men’s soccer freshman Todd Canal was named Mid-Central Conference (MCC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 3-9, 2011, for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Canal, an Indianapolis native (Covenant Christian H.S.), helped guide the Foresters to a 2-0 record last week. On Wednesday against Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Canal assisted HU’s first goal and blasted one into the back of the net just before halftime to lift the Foresters over the Cougars 3-2.
Against conference foe Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Canal scored HU’s first two goals to pace the Foresters’ attack in a thrilling 3-2 double overtime road win, their first win against the Wildcats since 2004. To date, Canal has scored seven goals and assisted five more.
The Foresters (4-6-1, 2-1) are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the MCC.
