Huntington, Ind. - Looking to avenge last year’s loss, the Forester men’s basketball team (6-1) did so in convincing fashion with an 85-68 blowout over the Saints of Aquinas College (2-5) at the Merillat Complex Saturday night.

It was a first half shooting clinic for the Foresters as they tickled the twine at a clip of 69.2% (18-for-26) to surge ahead of the Saints 44-30 by halftime. TJ Short and Nick Teeter teamed up to drain five treys while Caleb Kennedy worked the paint for 14 first half points.

While one would have to say the Foresters cooled off in the second period, they still shot a notable 52.2% from the field to run away with the win. Teeter went back to work from behind the arc to knock down three more treys on his way to a career best 17 points.

The Foresters shot an impressive 61.2% for the game, which included going 11-for-17 from the 3-point line for 64.7%. HU committed nine turnovers to the Saints’ 12. Aquinas held a slight 29-26 rebounding advantage.

Kennedy poured in a game-high 25 points. Short and Ryan Boester added 12 and 10 points respectively while Shane Merryman and Alec Peterson each ripped down six boards. Tyler Moreland, Zach Eddy and Connor McCane each tossed in 13 points for the Saints.

The Saints are currently 1-5 against MCC schools this season with their only win coming on November 1 against Goshen College.

Huntington’s conference opener is Tuesday when they host 13th-ranked University of Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
