Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College Athletics Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of November 8-14, 2004. Women’s basketball senior Jamie Grogg and men’s basketball sophomore Alex Kock earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Jamie Grogg, an exercise science major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), had a record-setting performance during the week for the Foresters. In Huntington’s 72-61 win over Indiana Tech, Grogg hit nine 3-point field goals, breaking the previous school record of seven set by teammate Jessica Ramey in last year’s game at Indiana Tech. She finished the game with 27 points, three assists and three rebounds. Grogg also scored 15 points in both of the Foresters’ tournament games on the weekend. She went 9-21 from the field, including 6-15 from behind the arc and 6-6 from the line in the two games. The Foresters (3-2) next take to the road on Tuesday, November 16, to play Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., at 6:00 p.m.

Alex Kock, a physical education and health major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), had an outstanding individual performance to help lead the Foresters to a 2-1 week. In Monday’s 97-74 win over Urbana University, Kock had the hot hand, going 11-15 from the field, which included 5-7 from 3-point land, for 30 points and added six rebounds. On Wednesday, Kock led the team in scoring and rebounding with his 16 points and 9 boards in Huntington’s 77-50 win over Purdue University Calumet, and in the Foresters’ 69-66 loss to 17th-ranked Cornerstone University, Kock had a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds. Huntington (2-2) returns to action on Tuesday, November 16 at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne at 7:00 p.m.
The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 49 NAIA All-American honors and 91 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
