Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University will hold the sixth annual Huntington Open on Aug. 2 at the Huntington University Cross Country Course beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The invitational features a 3K race at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 5K race at 9:15 a.m. For those who register early the entry fee is $5 per race, and for those who register the day of the event the fee is $7 per race. Participants may run in more than one race and must register in a division, either pre-high school (3K only), high school, college, post-college (college to age 35), 35 to 49 years of age, or the masters’ division (ages 50 and older). All proceeds from the event will benefit the university’s cross-country program.
Registration lasts from 7 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. at the Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation on the university campus. The course is approximately a half mile walk from registration where course maps and race numbers will be distributed.
Awards will be presented to the overall top three boy and girl pre-high school runners and the top three male and female non-pre-high school runners in the 3K. The top three male and female runners in the high school and college divisions will be awarded in the 5K, and the top two male and female finishers in all other divisions running the 5K will receive non-trophy awards.
The Huntington University Cross Country Course will test runners’ mental and physical conditioning. The all-grass course features rolling hills, long straight-aways and a creek crossing.
Runners may pre-register at the Three Rivers Running Company, located at 6312 Covington Road in Fort Wayne, Ind. Pre-registration is available via mail as well. Registration forms may be sent to Huntington Open, 6071 North 250 East, Huntington, Ind., 46750, with checks made payable to the Huntington Open.
