The Foresters opened their spring season with a second place finish at the Manchester Spartan Invitational. HU and Bethel both shot 604 in the 36-hole event, but the Pilots won the tie-breaker by posting a better fifth place score.
Justin Imel posted HU best score shooting a 74 and a 76 for a 150. Andrew Porterfield carded a 152. Wes Knuth shot a 153. Dan Knuth had a 155 and Spencer Batt finished with a 159. Bethel's Chris Tilbury earned medalist honors with a one over par 143. "I am so proud of these guys to shoot so well in such wet conditions," said Coach Schownir. "Sure, it would have been nice to win but for our first tournament in six months, we did very well."
Franklin finished third behind Bethel and HU with a 607 followed by Rose Hulman (638), Hanover (642), Manchester (654) and Mount St. Joseph (749).
