Huntington, Ind.—The third annual Huntington Open will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the Huntington University Cross Country Course starting at 8:30 a.m. Showcasing a 4K and a 5K race, the Huntington Open has an entry fee of $5.00 for each race. Runners can choose to participate in more than one race. The 4K race will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 9:15 a.m.
The Huntington University Cross Country Course is an all grass course dedicated to the sport of cross country. Featuring rolling hills, long straight-aways and a creek crossing, the challenging course will test runners’ mental and physical conditioning. Runners can register in the divisions of High School, College, Post-College (college to 35), 35-49 years of age, or the Masters division (ages 50 and up).
The 4K and 5K Cross Country Open Invitational will award the top three overall male and female finishers in the 4K. In the 5K, the top three male and female high school and college finishers will receive awards. The top two male and female finishers in all other divisions will receive non-trophy awards.
Pre-registration is being taken for the Open before July 27 at Three Rivers Running Company, located at 6312 Covington Road in Fort Wayne, Ind. Individuals who pre-register at Three Rivers Running Company will receive a free water bottle. Pre-registration is also available via mail. Registration forms can be sent to Huntington Open, 247 E 700 N, Huntington, IN 46750 with checks made payable to the Huntington Open.
Race day registration, check-in and packet pick-up will be available from 7:15-8:15 a.m. at the Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation (MCPER) on the campus of Huntington University. Race numbers and courses maps will be given at that time. The course is a half mile walk from the MCPER.
