Johnson, Kyle earn Athlete of Week honors

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 9-15. Women’s cross country senior Lauren Johnson and men’s basketball senior Kevin Kyle earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Lauren Johnson, a senior from Huntington, Ind., ran to a 2nd place finish in the MCC Cross Country Championships on Saturday with a time of 18:38. Johnson's finish qualified her for the 2009 NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 21 in Vancouver, Wa. Her 2nd place finish also secured her MCC All-Conference honors.

Kevin Kyle, a senior Recreation Management major from Crawfordsville, Ind. (North Montgomery HS), led the Foresters to a 2-0 start to their season. Against Indiana Tech Kyle finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. He recorded his first double-double of the season against Madonna by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Foresters (2-0) return to action on Friday, Nov. 13, when they host the Ness Bros. Hall of Fame Tournament. They will face the Trojans of Trinity International University at 8 p.m.
