HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its 2012 Daktronics Cross Country NAIA Scholar Athletes and among the list of honorees were four Huntington University student-athletes.
Men’s cross country runners, Joshua McIntyre and Lance Wood, were two of the 203 male athletes named NAIA Scholar-Athletes. McIntyre, a Huntington, Ind. native (Huntington North H.S.), is a junior history major. Wood (Waterville, Ohio, Toledo Christian High School) is a senior entrepreneurial small business management major.
Miranda Boyts and Cendall Ogle were among the 317 women’s cross country runners to earn Scholar Athlete accolades. Boyts is junior nursing major from Goshen, Indiana (Fairfield High School). Ogle hails from Warsaw, Indiana (Warsaw High School) and is a junior elementary and special education major.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
