Foresters run well in Louisville

Louisville, Ky. - The Forester cross country teams traveled to Kentucky over the weekend to compete in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning.

The HU men, competing in a field of 33 teams which included over 15 NCAA Division I schools, finished seventeenth overall. Leading the way was Joseph Herber who finished 6th in 25:09. With this time not only did he establish a new PR but recorded the third fastest time in HU history. Crossing the line 60 seconds later for a 58th finish was Alec Rosario. Lance Wood placed 87th in 26:23.

Brian Menzie ran a 27:01 to finish 151st. Nathan Rupp finished 167th in 27:20, Isaiah Laatsch placed 203rd in 28:23 and Seth Murphy grabbed 207th in 28:30.

Pacing the Huntington women to a 20th place finish out of 32 teams was Gretchen Spahr who ran to a 40th place finish with a new collegiate PR of 18:59. Cendall Ogle wasn’t far behind, crossing the line in 19:05 for 46th place. Two other Foresters broke the 20 minute barrier. Erin Rockey registered a 19:57 (124th place) and Krystal McHenry turned in a 19:59 (127th).

Rounding out the HU’s scoring was Natalie Spahr who turned in a 156th place finish in 20:27. Miranda Boyts ran to 160th place in 20:35 and Amanda Henningfield finished 206th in 22:12.

Within one point of #24-ranked University of Cumberland, the Foresters had six of seven runners finish with collegiate personal bests.

The Foresters are back in action on Saturday of homecoming when they host the annual E. DeWitt Baker Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
