Huntington, Ind. - The Mid-Central College Conference (MCC) named its athletes of the week for the week of April 11-17 and three Foresters were among the list of honorees.
For the second time this season, junior ace Mitch Bowers was named MCC Pitcher of the week. Bowers, a business management major from Rochester, Indiana (Rochester High School), earned two wins on the mound last week bumping his win total to five. Against Grace on Tuesday, Bowers went the distance giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out four. He followed that up with another one-run game on Saturday against Indiana Wesleyan where he gave up eight hits while fanning three in seven innings of work. His ERA for the week was 1.29.
Sophomore centerfielder Adam Christner was named MCC Baseball Player of the Week for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions. Christner, an economics and finance major from Topeka, Indiana (Westview High School) helped lead the Foresters to a 5-1 record last week. He hit .579 for the week with 11 hits that included four doubles. He also scored ten runs, drove in four more and was a perfect 9-for-9 in stolen bases.
Jordan Dawes, a junior business management major from Leesburg, Indiana (Wawasee High School), was named MCC Golfer of the Week. Dawes led HU to a first place finish at the University of Saint Francis Spring Invitational over the weekend. After shooting a 75 in round one, four strokes behind the leader, he battled back to shoot a 71 on Saturday to claim top medalist honors with a 146.
