Huntington, Ind.—Huntington College Head Baseball Coach Mike Frame announces that Norwell High School standout Neil Stinson has signed a letter of intent to attend Huntington College this fall. The senior pitcher/outfielder currently is 5-2 with a 1.82 ERA. In 50 innings pitched, Stinson has 67 strikeouts and only 19 walks. In the outfield Stinson is hitting .404 with one home run and 13 RBI.
"We are tremendously excited that Neil has decided to continue his education and play baseball at Huntingon College." says Coach Frame. "He is an outstanding athlete and has proven himself to be one of the top pitching prospects in the area. He has distinguished himself both on and off the field in high school. We expect him to make an immediate impact as a part of Forester Baseball. "
Neil is the son of Vivian and Jack Stinson of Ossian, Indiana.
Huntington College is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Foresters finished the 1998 season at 21-20 and second in the MCC. Huntington has captured the MCC season regular season championship or conference tournament championship 8 out of the last 12 years. The Foresters have had eight former players go on to careers in professional baseball, including three in 1988.
Huntington College is a private, Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, Indiana, with an enrollment of approximately 815 students. Athletically, HC competes in fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women.
