On day two of their spring break trip to Daytona Beach, the Foresters baseball
team went 1-1 against Grand View University dropping the opener 8-6, but winning the nightcap 10-2 to move to 5-6 on the season.
In the first game of the doubleheader, both teams pounded out ten hits but Grand View was more efficient in producing runs as they notched the 8-6 win over the Foresters. HU grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the first but Grand View responded with seven runs in the next two innings to take a commanding 7-1 lead. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Huntington found themselves down 8-3 but weren't ready to call it quits. The Foresters strung together several hits that resulted in three runs but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the Vikings' five-run lead.
Ethan Tribolet took the loss for the Foresters. He gave up eight runs, six earned, on ten hits and two walks. Andrew Drummond led HU at the plate with three hits, including a triple, and three RBI.
The second game was a slug fest for the Foresters as they out-hit the Vikings 21-6. HU pounded out seven runs over the first three innings to take a convincing 7-0 lead and then collected two more in the fifth to make it 9-0. Grand View would score two runs in the sixth but HU got one back in the seventh as they cruised to the 10-2 win.
Cody Walters picked up the win for HU allowing just three hits while striking out three. Eric Schultz had four hits on as many attempts to lead the Foresters at the plate.
