Huntington University has announced that Huntington North High School senior outfielder Austin Drummond has committed to play baseball at HU this fall.

“Austin is a great addition to our program,” says head baseball coach Mike Frame. “He is a solid athletic and has an outstanding work ethic. We will initially look at him as an outfielder, but he is athletic enough to play other positions. He is a strong student and is the kind of young man that we want in our program. We are excited to have him on campus this fall.”

Huntington University is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On the baseball field HU has captured the MCC season regular season championship or conference tournament championship 28 times in 50 years, including a conference tournament championship in 2010. The conference championship qualified the Foresters for the national tournament. The HU baseball program has had eight former players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.

Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, Indiana, with an enrollment of approximately 1100 students. Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women.

Austin is the son of Dan and Barb Drummond of Huntington, Ind.
