Spasic named Forester Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of April 15-21, 2013. Tennis senior Aleksandra Spasic earned the honor for her outstanding effort against IU East on Friday.

The Vranje, Serbia native came away with a pair of wins in the final home match of her collegiate career. After teaming up with Cassie Kasicki to post an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, Spasic cruised to victory, 6-1, 6-3, in No. 2 singles.

Coach Roger Ferguson had this to say about his lone senior, “It’s been a real pleasure to have Alek on our team the past three years. She has been a great player, a great teammate and more important, a great friend. We will miss her laugh and smile.”
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
