Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of September 26 – October 2, 2005. Soccer senior Mindy Perry and men’s tennis junior Jason Stump earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Mindy Perry
Mindy Perry, a math education major from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Kalamazoo Central High School), helped lead the Forester soccer team to a 1-1 record last week. In Huntington’s 5-1 win over Rochester College, Perry scored a goal and added two assists in the match. Currently Perry is the Foresters’ second leading scorer with four goals this season, and she also has dished out eight assists. The 4-6 Foresters next travel to Indianapolis to take on conference foe Marian College on Wednesday, October 5 at 4 p.m.
Jason Stump
Jason Stump, a recreation management major from Angola, Ind. (Angola High School), went undefeated for the week to help the Forester tennis team win three of four matches in their final week of regular season competition. Stump went 4-0 in singles play to run his season record to 9-2. In doubles, he and teammate Mitchell McDonald went 3-0 on the week to finish the season with a 9-1 record. The Foresters will conclude their fall schedule this weekend with the Mid-Central Conference tournament at Concordia High School in Fort Wayne.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 52 NAIA All-America honors and 102 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
