Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3. Women’s track sophomore Bethany McGraw and men’s basketball senior Doug Sheckler earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Bethany McGraw, an exercise science major from Toledo, Ohio (Toledo Christian High School), paced the Foresters with three first place finishes at the Taylor University Indoor Track Invitational. She crossed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.62, and she won both the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 17-7.50 and 36-00, respectively. Huntington returns to action on Feb. 16 when they travel to Greencastle for the DePauw University Invitational at 11 a.m.
Doug Sheckler
Doug Sheckler, an elementary education major from Columbia City, Ind. (Columbia City High School), had a strong individual performance in both of Huntington’s games this week. Against St. Francis, Sheckler had a game-high 24 points and added seven rebounds. On Saturday, he again took game-high honors with his double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds in the Foresters’ 73-72 upset over #11 Bethel. The Foresters (17-8, 7-4) next travel to Upland to take on the Trojans of Taylor University on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
