McGraw, Beach named Forester Athletes of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 5-11. Women's track junior Bethany McGraw and men's track senior Lucas Beach earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the weeks competitions.

Bethany McGraw, an exercise science major from Toledo, Ohio (Toledo Christian High School), paced the Foresters with three individual first place finishes in Huntington's Frozen Forest indoor track season opener. She met provisional qualifying standards to compete in the NAIA National Championships in early March with her winning leap of 17-05.50 in the long jump. McGraw also crossed first in the 300 meter dash with a time of 46.08 and she won the triple jump with a mark of 33-11.00. Huntington returns to action on Jan. 16 when they travel to Ohio Northern University at 6 p.m.

Lucas Beach, a Bible and religion and physical education double major from Lucerne, Indiana (Pioneer High School) automatically qualified to compete in the NAIA Indoor Track National Championships in the shot put with his winning toss of 51-02.00 in Huntingtons Frozen Forest season opener. It marks the fourth consecutive year that he will compete in the event at the national level. The Foresters return to action on Jan. 16 when they travel to Ohio Northern University at 6 p.m.
