Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of October 27 – November 2, 2003. Volleyball junior Jessica Kendall and men’s soccer junior Paulo Moniz earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Jessica Kendall
Jessica Kendall, an environmental science major from Greensburg, Indiana (South Decatur High School), helped lead the Forester volleyball team to a 2-3 record last week with 66 kills and 29 blocks. In the Foresters’ loss to Mid-Central Conference foe St. Francis, Kendall claimed team-high honors with 11 kills. On the weekend, the Foresters hosted a nine-team tournament. In four matches, she put down 55 kills and added 26 blocks to help lead the team to a 2-2 record. For her efforts, Kendall was selected as a member of the All-Tournament team. The Foresters are next in action on Tuesday, November 4, a home match against Grace College at 7:30 p.m.
Paulo Moniz
Paulo Moniz, a junior exercise science major from Pawtucket, R.I. (Charles E. Shea High School), scored two goals in the Foresters’ final regular season game against Moody Bible Institute. Moniz got Huntington on the board early when he headed home a pass from Jonathan Palma in the seventh minute of play, and gave the Foresters a 3-0 lead when he netted an assist from Marc Cameron early in the second half. The Foresters concluded their season with an 8-9-2 record.
