Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of November 3 - 9, 2003. Cross country senior Nicole Jacob and men’s basketball sophomore Steve Snider earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Nicole Jacob
Nicole Jacob, a psychology and sociology double major from Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert High School), paced the Forester harriers with her 19th-place finish in the NAIA Region VIII Championships on Saturday. Her time of 19:41, a personal best by over 20 seconds, earned her an invitation to compete at the NAIA National Championships in Louisville, Ky., on November 22. The Forester squad finished fourth with 133 points out of a field of twelve teams in the event.
Steve Snider
Steve Snider, an undeclared major from Indianapolis, Ind. (Hamilton Southeastern High School), helped lead the Foresters to a 2-0 week, scoring 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the team’s two road games. On Wednesday, November 5, Snider scored 10 points and tallied 7 rebounds in Huntington’s 71-56 win over Spring Arbor University. On Saturday, he dropped in a team-high 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in the Foresters’ upset win over St. Xavier University, who was ranked 9th in the NAIA Division I preseason poll. The Foresters are now 2-1 on the season and travel to Purdue University Calumet on Wednesday.
