Isabelli, Janzen named Forester Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 24-30, 2006. Track senior Lisa Isabelli and men’s baseball junior Andy Janzen earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.

Lisa Isabelli, a recreation management major from Shorewood, Ill. (Joliet West High School), earned All-Conference honors for the first time in her career by winning the hammer throw event at the Mid-Central Conference Track and Field Championships. Isabelli’s toss of 146’ 6” was over 12 feet better than her previous personal best of 134’ 4”. The Foresters finished sixth in the team standings with 93.5 points.

Andy Janzen, an exercise science major from Heimsheim, Germany, culminated a solid week for the Foresters with his selection to the MCC All-Conference team. In six games for Huntington, Janzen was 7-19 at the plate for a .368 batting average. He also drove in five runs and scored four times. Janzen currently leads the Forester squad in several offensive categories including batting average (.417), slugging percentage (.583), on base percentage (.482), hits (60), doubles (10), homeruns (4) and total bases (84). Huntington (22-21) now awaits word on the Mid-Central Conference Tournament to be held Thursday through Saturday, May 4-6 at Huntington’s Forest Glen Park.
