Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21. Women’s volleyball senior Natalie Villwock and men’s tennis senior Gonzalo Vivas earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Natalie Villwock, a senior from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Windsor HS, Windsor, Colorado), helped lead the Foresters to the Manchester College Volleyball Tournament title with a 4-0 record. She recorded 35 kills, eight blocks, 24 digs and five aces in the four matches and was named the Tournament MVP. Huntington (10-6) returns to action on Sept. 27 when they host the Huntington University Quad Tournament beginning at 11 a.m.
Gonzalo Vivas
Gonzalo Vivas, a business management major from Lima, Peru, had a strong performance on the tennis court during the week. He was a double winner in the men’s 7-2 conference victory over Grace College.Vivas won 6-2, 6-3 at #1 singles, and then he and his brother Martin won 8-6 at #1 doubles. Vivas also advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional tournament at Cedarville University with two singles wins, 6-3 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1. The Foresters (2-5) next host Manchester College on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.
