Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 20-26. Women’s softball senior Brittany Gower and men’s track senior Nick Johnson earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Brittany Gower, a psychology major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), helped lead the Forester softball team to a 6-2 record during the week. The senior outfielder hit .478 for the week with 11 hits that included three doubles and two triples. Gower also scored 10 runs and drove in five more in the eight games. Huntington returns to action on April 28 in the Mid-Central Conference Tournament hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The No. 4-seeded Foresters will play No. 5 IWU in their first-round game at noon.
Nick Johnson
Nick Johnson, an exercise science major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), turned in an outstanding individual performance at the Mid-Central Conference Track and Field Championships. He was a double winner in the meet winning both the 5000 and 10,000 meter races. He also earned All-Conference honors for the first time in his track career. The Foresters will next compete at the Butler Twilight Invitational at 4 p.m. on May 2.
