Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 10-16, 2006. Softball senior Kaley Fode and men’s golf senior Andrew Porterfield earned the honors for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Kaley Fode
Kaley Fode, an elementary education major from Upland, Ind. (Eastbrook High School), used some timely hitting to lead the Foresters to a 4-0 week. In four games, Fode banged out eight hits, six for extra bases, in 14 at-bats for a .571 average. She had four doubles and two homeruns to post a stellar 1.286 slugging percentage for the week. She also drove in nine runs and scored five times for Huntington. Fode currently leads the Foresters with her .376 batting average. Huntington (10-21, 6-8) returns to action at home against Siena Heights University on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 4 p.m.
Andrew Porterfield
Andrew Porterfield, a computer science major from Marion, Ind. (Eastbrook High School), continued his hot play this spring shooting a one under par 71 to lead the Foresters to a second place finish at the Tri-State University Invitational. His score was second-best in the field and earned him a spot on the All-Tournament team. In five rounds this spring, Porterfield has posted a 73.6 stroke average. The Foresters are in action again on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Region VIII Preview Tournament at Rock Hollow Golf Course.
